Risk Assessments
The first requirement of HSE's L8 Code of Practice is to carry out a "suitable and sufficient" Risk Assessment. You must identify all systems that could present a risk of exposure to Legionella bacteria. These include:
- Hot & Cold Water Services
- Cooling Towers
- Evaporative Condensers
- Spa Pools
- Any system where Legionella may grow and be released in an aerosol
Each system must have its own Risk Assessment, which must be carried out by trained personnel who are competent to do so.
Our risk assessors use a unique risk matrix scoring system to help identify how short of full compliance you are and to prioritise your remedial actions.
Remember: Hazard x Likelihood = RISK
The hazards associated with legionella bacteria can be fatal but the likelihood can be minimised by effective monitoring of control schemes and engineering solutions.
