Activ-Ox®
Activ-Ox® is Feedwater's patented Chlorine Dioxide generation process. It is simple and safe to use, and is especially effective at controlling potential pathogens such as legionella pneumophila, the bacteria which cause Legionnaires' Disease. In trials and applications since 1998, Activ-Ox has proved to be effective, reliable and above all, safe for use in controlling bacteria in Domestic and Process water systems. It is approved for use in potable water by the UK Drinking Water Inspectorate.
Inside untreated systems, biofilm grows on the surfaces of pipes and tanks. This is where bacteria survive and multiply, and many biocides are ineffective against biofilm. Activ-Ox penetrates and destroys biofilm and kills bacteria in the water as well. The Journal of Applied Microbiology reports that: "Chlorine dioxide...was identified as the most efficient [continuous treatment] for controlling L. pneumophila in a domestic water system."
