In most instances the water used in industrial and commercial premises is supplied by the local water company and is fit for drinking or potable as it arrives on site, however, like milk, water can “go off” if left to stand for a while or its use, without further treatment, may lead to problems such as scale formation or corrosion. Obvious examples of problems include legionnaires’ disease, scaled up water fittings, excessive detergent usage, scum-lines around baths and “red water”.
